Since the third millennium BC., the Mesopotamian s start using the assemblage of small pieces of colored ceramic, stone, or other materials known as tesserae. Later on the pebble mosaics were made by the Greeks; and the mosaic patterns and pictures became widespread in classical times, in Ancient Greece and Rome. Mosaic was widely used on religious buildings and palaces in the early Islamic art including the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, and the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. After the 8th century the mosaic went out of fashion in the Islamic world. However, the contemporary mosaics are made by professional artists, street artists, and as a popular craft, as well they starting to apply besides the traditional stone and glass other materials such as shells, glass and beads.

As part of the patterns and sizes their basic mosaic pattern is the grid. Arranged in straight rows and columns of the traditional mosaics, this pattern clean the lines that certainly will highlight the unique texture of the SONITE materials. As a reflection of the Japanese philosophy of wabi sabi or the inherent beauty of the imperfect objects is the result of the Sonite’s Karei series. The most particular characteristic of these product is the subtle pearl-like texture that emerge in each tile. They come in sizes of 10mm x 10mm to 40mm x 40mm. The lead time is of 2-4 weeks. Suitable for indoor vertical and horizontal applications for residential and commercial application. It is not recommended for flooring.

Having over more than two millennia, the traditional Chinese art and culture have been spreading throughout all the world, resting on the foundations of the art of the literati and ritual, religious and decorative arts, integrating Western aesthetics into the realms of conceptual new media art, experimenting with new technique and innovations.
